Su-Yon Lee is a late-stage Ph.D. candidate at National Taiwan University and works in Chinese literature. He pursues this subject both academically and professionally, as he is also the Chief Editor at the Taiwan literary magazine Youth Literary. At the Fairbank Center, Su-Yon will be working on his dissertation titled “The Discourse of Barbarism in Taiwan Literature.” In this project, he seeks to rethink and analyze the discourse of barbarism by exploring and covering various topics related to colonial modernity in East Asia.

Research Interests: Modernism, Sinophone literature, colonialism
