DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Sung Eun Kim\, Associate Professor\, Department of Political Science and International Relations\, Korea University; HYI Visiting Scholar\, 2024-25Chair/Discussant: Stephen Chaudoin\, Assistant Professor\, Government\, Harvard University \n\n\n\nThis talk will explore how China navigates its position as a rising power within the U.S.-led liberal economic order by employing veiled protectionist measures that align with international rules while advancing its domestic interests. As a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO)\, China faces the challenge of balancing its reputation as a responsible global actor with the need to protect its industries.
