The Harvard China Fund will offer three categories of funding for faculty in FY22: 1) conference grants, 2) research grants, and 3) support for needs due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Proposed projects must align with Harvard University’s current travel guidance and other COVID-related policies as needed.
The China Fund welcomes conference and research proposals with a focus on China in any field. Conference and research proposals will be reviewed by a sub-committee of the Harvard China Fund Steering Committee (comprised of 17 scholars from 7 of the University’s schools). The principal applicant must be full-time Harvard faculty at the assistant, associate, or full professorial rank. Harvard Medical School faculty must hold one of these titles and have a primary appointment in one of HMS’s basic or social science departments.
Besides research and conference grants, the Harvard China Fund will continue soliciting proposals from Harvard faculty to fund research assistants and other academic needs due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Preference will be given to faculty whose primary academic domains are related to China Studies. The selection process will prioritize non-tenured faculty, yet all Harvard faculty are welcome to apply.
