Ying-ming Lee 李(杨)英敏 (center), library assistant in the Fairbank Center Collection of H.C. Fung Library will be retiring on January 10, 2019 after more than twenty years of outstanding service. Prior to her work at the Fairbank Center, Ying-Ming also worked at the Harvard -Yenching Library. Although Ying-Ming will be sorely missed, she looks forward to traveling and spending time with her five grandchildren.
Ying-Ming Lee and her husband Dr.Paul Lee have made a much appreciated donation for the purchase of book acquisitions for the Fairbank Center Collection. The funds, in memory of Ying-Ming’s parents, Dr and Mrs. Yang Yan-fei, will be used to establish the Dr. and Mrs. Yang Yan-fei Book Fund.
We also welcome Charlotte Cotter (right) who is starting at the Fung Library to assist Librarian Nancy Hearst (left). Charlotte recently graduated from Yale University, where she studied for a bachelors degree in East Asian History with Professors Denise Ho and Peter Purdue. Her undergraduate thesis, “Alternative Marriage Practices of Wartime Urban China in Discourse and Practice, 1937-1949,” was awarded the Yale William Prize for an outstanding thesis in East Asian studies. Charlotte is dedicated to research work, has a strong interest in modern China, and is most helpful in helping patrons find reference sources. We warmly welcome Charlotte to the library staff and the Fairbank Center team!
