The opposition Kuomintang party achieved what some consider to be a “blue wave” in the November 26 elections for local government offices by winning a total of thirteen of the major offices while “flipping” three of those previously held by the Democratic Progressive Party. In this, our third panel on the Taiwan elections, we examine the campaign issues and assess the significance of their results for the structure of party system in Taiwan, for party leaderships and for the 2024 presidential and legislative elections.
