Menglan Chen (陳夢嵐) is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations. Her dissertation investigates how photography redefined what was visible, sensible, and knowable in modern China. Menglan’s research explores modern and contemporary imaging technologies and techniques at the intersection of aesthetic, technical, and epistemic operations.
