Jaewoong Jeon is a postdoctoral fellow in Global History at Harvard University at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, with a concurrent affiliation at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. He practices comparative macrohistory as a method of elucidating the history of capitalism in East Asia. In his work, capitalism is not reduced to an economic system, but manifests as a new civilization with peculiar social relations, political forms, and cultural features. He received his PhD in History from the University of Chicago in 2019.
