Isabella M. Weber is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Research Leader for China at the Political Economy Research Institute, and author of the award-winning book How China Escaped Shock Therapy (2021). Her project explores how the ways in which economists have theorized money, value, prices, the state and markets lead to competing economic paradigms and policy implications in relation to China and beyond.
