Yuhua Guo

Yuhua Guo is Professor in the Department of Sociology at Tsinghua University. Her research focuses on the relationship between the state and society and social justice in the process of China’s social transformation. She received her BA and Ph.D. degrees from Beijing Normal University. Her published academic works include The Narration of the Peasant: How Can “Suffering” Become History? (2013); Politics of Housing: The Urban Movement of the Community Autonomy (2014 Co-edited); The Melancholy Land (2022); and the thesis Digital Divide and Social Cleavage: Case Studies of ICT Usage among Peasants in Contemporary China (in The China Quarterly Sept. 2011). She was awarded China Quarterly’s 2011 Gordon White Prize.
