Shengqiao Lin holds a Ph.D. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. His research centers on the political economy of development, state-business relations, and industrial policies with a regional focus on China. Using a mixed-method approach involving computational methods, causal inference designs, and in-depth interviews, his dissertation studies how private businesses mitigate political risk in China and how these state-business interactions shape developmental outcomes such as economic growth, poverty alleviation, and technology innovation.
