Bio

Jingyun Dai is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Sociology at Harvard University. She studies cultural processes and class and gender inequalities in the context of elite higher education. Her dissertation examines how students at the two most prestigious universities in China imagine their future class position and how class origin and gender together shape that process. In addition, she aims to understand how cultural processes shape activism in China. She also has researched rural reconstruction activism and environmental NGOs in China.
