Bio

Li Gong (龔莉) is a member of the Chief Editorial Committee of the second and third editions of the Encyclopedia of China and Academic Director of the third edition. She formerly served as the president of Encyclopedia Publishing House of China and also serves as Vice Chairman of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Terminology and Vice President of the Chinese Society of Editors.

Her publications include: The University Without Walls (2018, Jiangxi University Press), The Progress of Civilization, from Encyclopedia Britannica to Wikipedia (2020, Zhonghua Book Company), and Field Harvest (two volumes, 2021, Zhonghua Book Company). Li also teaches national continuing education and training courses for editors organized by institutions such as the Chinese Society of Editors, the Chinese Lexicographical Society, and the China Intellectual Property Protection Center.

Li Gong was a visiting professor of digital communication at Wuhan University of Technology from 2016 to 2017 and a visiting professor of journalism and communication at Xiamen University from 2022 to 2023. Her current research projects include: “The Cultural Perspective of Encyclopedias – The Development and Influence of Chinese Encyclopedias Since the Reform and Opening Up” and “Comparative Research on Encyclopedias under Different Cultural Backgrounds.”She graduated from Sichuan University and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Renmin University of China.
