Fei Yan (嚴飛) is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Tsinghua University. He has received fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, the Harvard-Yenching Institute at Harvard University, and the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at Stanford University. His current work explores the sociological and political processes of group conflict, collaboration, and identity formation in the mid-twentieth century, as well as historiographical writing in modern China.
Research Interests: Historical sociology; political sociology; mass factionalism and collective violence; mobility and social inequality
