This talk examines the policies and strategies of the United States and the People’s Republic of China in controlling cinematic production and access in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia during the 1950s and 1960s. By comparing these approaches, it offers new insights into the complex interplay between global and local forces in shaping Cold War cinematic ecosystems.
