Yitian Li (李倚天) is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University. Her dissertation project, “What an Official Needs to Know: Statecraft Knowledge and Literati Learning in Southeast China from 12th-14th Century,” examines how literati in Middle Period China reformed the traditional model of Confucian virtue politics into a new moral technocracy that incorporated knowledge about fiscal management, government institutions, legal reasoning, and local society
