Bio

Yung-ta Chien is an award-winning journalist who has published investigative stories focused on human rights and inequality. He holds a MA in Journalism from National Taiwan University. His current research explores the interactions between communication technologies and democracy, examining the news sharing intentions of social media users and the co-construction process of fake news diffusion. During his time at the Fairbank Center, he will also be focusing on his second nonfiction work entitled “Taichung First Square: An underground built by migrant workers,” which combines first-hand interviewing stories with reexamining migration infrastructure between Taiwan and Vietnam.
