2026 Undergraduate Essay Prize in Taiwan Studies

We are pleased to announce the 2026 Fairbank Center Undergraduate Essay Prize in Taiwan Studies. This is an annual award for Harvard undergraduates, provided by the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies.

An award of $1000 will be presented to the winner.

The prize recognizes students who make original contributions to current scholarly discourse on Taiwan Studies, past and present. Essays and theses will be evaluated based on the quality of the research, originality of topic, clarity of expression, and strength of argument. The prize is open to Harvard College students in all academic disciplines. Students may self-nominate, but faculty advisors nominations are strongly encouraged. Students may submit their essays at the link below.

Submissions are due by April 15, 5PM EST.
Winners will be announced in May.
