Bio
Yuan Zhang 張源 (courtesy name 張雨諾, also known as Noah) is an Assistant Professor at China Women’s University. Her recent research focuses on AI philosophy and governance, gender and media studies, and Sinology and its international transmission. She holds an interdisciplinary academic background, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science from Peking University, a Master’s in Gender Studies from Utrecht University, during which she also studied Sinology as a visiting graduate student at Leiden University, and a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Macau. Prof. Zhang was a Fairbank Center Visiting Scholar in 2023-2024.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Zhang has been actively engaged in media, education, and consulting since 2000. She previously served as a Senior Management Consultant and Market Manager at the Chinese Academy of Telecommunications Research under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China, and worked as a part-time lecturer at the University of Macau. She has collaborated with multiple international research and advocacy initiatives and contributed to media projects, including producing and hosting the bilingual radio and television program All About Gender in the Netherlands.
Dr. Zhang is also a Lifetime Member of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, an Executive Council Member of the Adolescent Sexual Health Education Division of the Chinese Sexology Association, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the Women and Science Communication Committee of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology Journalism.
