The lecture will examine the Philippines’ grand strategy, the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC), and how it enables the Philippines to develop the necessary military capabilities to respond to a possible Taiwan contingency. In conclusion, the talk will argue that the AFP’s growing military capabilities have enabled Manila to play a significant role in bolstering the Philippine-U.S. alliance’s integrated deterrence in the face of a possible major armed conflict over Taiwan.
