After Japan was defeated in World War II, nearly 350,000 Japanese civilians living in Taiwan were repatriated. Among those numbers, more than half consisted of wansei, or Taiwan-born Japanese subjects.

Directed by Huang Ming-cheng, this documentary draws on 12 years of research, focusing on the experiences of 8 wansei. Interviews with these subjects reveal stories about the concept of homeland, friendship, family.
